our staff

The StarJam office team is small but effective!  Four full-timers including the position of CEO, one full-time volunteer, one two days a week Jammer and a two day a month contract position make up the full complement. The small team provides more than 30 years of not-for-profit experience through to national management level, more than a decade of sales & marketing management experience, significant relationship and account management experience and a host of business, arts, communication and information technology qualifications to Masters level.

Julie Bartlett

CEO & Founder

“I’m proud of the team at StarJam and I am in awe of their dedication, commitment and passion. I feel privileged to be in a position to meet so many Jammers and their families who I think are the most amazing people on the planet.”

Before founding StarJam with her husband Roy, Julie worked for a number of charitable organisations in a variety of roles. In her spare time she loves exploring wild and remote places, lazing on the beach and swimming in the sparkling waters of the Hauraki Gulf.

Roy Bartlett

Office Manager, Trust Secretary & Co-Founder

Roy, Co-Founder of StarJam has worked in the not for profit sector since 1986. During this time he has worked for Presbyterian Support, Alzheimers Foundation, Home and Family Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Auckland. Roy is a member of the Fundraising Institute of NZ and has served on both the National Executive of its Council and the Northern Regional Branch. Prior to his move into management for non profits, he worked for 20 years as an engineer. Roy particularly enjoys the movies, the theatre, socialising with friends over a good meal as well as sharing a love of sun, sea and sand with his wife Julie.

Daniel Gourlay

Communications Assistant/Jambassador

I am Daniel Gourlay and I have been in StarJam’s shows, being the host in 2005 & 2006 and dancing in 2007. I’ve also gone away to LA to interview the big man Danny de Vito. I was the one to pick “Here Comes the Sun” for a show, with my friends being there for me too. My dream would be to interview Troy Bolton from High School Musical and Ken Barlow from Coronation Street. I love it and have now been working for StarJam for ages! Getting paid is lovely, and that I have friends here, and that everyone has a go makes me so happy. Love to all my family and friends and thank you to everyone at StarJam for being there for me.

Kiri David

Regional Programmes Co-ordinator

Prior to StarJam, Kiri worked as a corporate/commercial lawyer in Central Auckland. She has a double degree in Law and Art History from the University of Auckland, where she was also a lecturer, tutor, and mentor. Kiri loves playing netball, reading good books, visiting art galleries, travelling around the world, family Christmas holidays at the beach, and going out for long fancy dinners. Kiri recently returned from a 7 month trip around South America with her partner. They learnt to speak Spanish, hiked to Machu Picchu, visited the Salt Flats of Bolivia, and swam with turtles and sea lions in the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador.

Kelley Marra

Regional Programmes Co-ordinator

On completion of her studies in Sport and Health Science, Kelley worked for the Sports, Fitness, Recreation Industry Training Organisation for four years. Then the quintessential Kiwi OE beckoned and she left our fair shores for seven years of extensive travel including, Africa, Nepal, India, Europe and America. During her time in the UK, Kelley worked with various families taking care of children, focussing on fun, food and friendships, and considers herself a part of these global families. Now happily reunited with NZ family and old friends, Kelley is also studying part time towards a degree in Psychology – Child and Adolescent. Her ‘outside the office’ interests include reading, travel, music, fine wines, good food and keeping fit. Kelley has run the London marathon and is looking forward to tackling further physical challenges back here in her home country.

Arron Peacock

Fundraising Manager

A “pom” by birth, Arron is doing his OE the other way around, although he intends to stay in New Zealand because he says, “It’s the best country in the world”, so he’s not really on an OE. Anyway, with a degree in History and Theology and a fascination with fundraising, Arron likes nothing more than seeing StarJam thrive because of the kindness of its supporters. Arron has worked in the not-for-profit sector for many years both in NZ and in the UK, having enjoyed time at Hope HIV, Rethink Severe Mental Illness, Spinal Research, and more recently Oxfam New Zealand. When he’s not thinking about fundraising, he loves spending time with his partner and two young sons, playing football, reading, and eating the odd chocolate biscuit.
