Monthly Gatherings

Monthly community gatherings are held on the last Saturday of each month (except December) at the Western Springs Garden Community Centre, 956-990 G­reat North Road, Pt Chevalier, from 3pm to 5pm.  They are a great chance for the StarJam community to get together and have a jamming party!  They are also provide a welcoming environment for new people interested in becoming Jammers -everyone is welcome!

Who comes to the gatherings?

  • young people who have performed in StarJam events and Jammers who attend CoolJam workshops
  • young people who wish to perform in future StarJam events or are interested in joining a CoolJam workshop
  • parents, siblings, carers, teachers and supporters of young people
  • StarJam tutors and volunteers, present and future

What happens at the gatherings?

  • coaching and mentoring for young people by celebrities, dance tutors and other young people who have performed ‘on stage’
  • entertainment from the Jammers
  • musical ‘Jams’ for everybody who wants to join in
  • fun, feasting, chats and laughter

What’s happening at each of the gatherings this year?

  • March 28 2009: Painting party. Get your creative hats on! We’re going to be painting masterpeices for auction.
  • April 25 2009: CoolJam workshop show-offs and hero awards for super Jammers.
  • May 30 2009: Movie time! Come watch a StarJam movie and tuck into some yummy popcorn.
  • June 27 2009: CoolJam workshop show-offs and StarJam hero awards.
  • July 25 2009: Winter Christmas party. The weather outside is dismal but the party at StarJam is delightful! Dust off those Christmas tunes, get your Santa hats on and come join in the winter games.
  • August 29 2009: Special guest workshop. A surprise special guest is coming to lead us in a cool workshop!
  • September 26 2009: A brand new batch of heroes and a fantastic CoolJam workshop show-off line up!
  • October 31 2009: CoolJam Show time! Rehearsals and show time are likely to be all day today and tonight.
  • November 28 2009: Celebrate StarJam ‘09 Party! Come and celebrate StarJam’s 2009 successes with a disco party! We’ll let you know the party start time closer to the date. Woohoo!
