Jambassadors
What is an Jambassador? Someone who has gone the extra extra mile in support our Jammers, and that includes some Jammers themselves.
Daniel GourlayDaniel’s ‘go with the flow’ attitude combined with his sense of humour has seen him push the boundaries of what is possible in both his personal development and his career. After repeatedly expressing his fervent wish for over two years to work for StarJam, he was invited to join StarJam’s team in the role of Communications Assistant. He is an outstanding role model for other young people with and without disabilities.
DJ (Dean) MorathDJ is an extremely enthusiastic Jammer who has courageously promoted StarJam in original ways. When we released our song, he visited shops to ensure they had plenty in stock to sell. He also has a knack of making spontaneous speeches at the right time to the right audience.
John HawkesbyJohn first ‘got jammed’ when he attended “StarJam Rocks 05” and was keen to help. He starting telling the story of his StarJam experience incidentally and then subsequently at StarJam events. John is one of New Zealand’s leading television presenters and has worked for TVNZ and TV3 in a number of prime time news programmes. These days he spends a good deal of his time growing grapes on his winery on Waiheke Island and writing regular wine columns.
Jono HeapsJono is one of the original 15 Jammers who joined in 2002. Jono has made a significant contribution to StarJam and taken on many challenges ranging from accepting the challenge to conduct an interview with tennis superstar John McEnroe with only two hours notice to co-writing a song for StarJam’s first song release. Jono is the first Jammer to become a CoolJam tutor, encouraging other Jammers to be the best they can be.
Ray Woolf Ray accepted our invitation to perform at StarJam’s launch in November 2002. He has performed in a further six stage shows and dozens of our Jammers have had the opportunity to share the stage with him. Ray has gone the extra mile to assist. When one of the key members of our cast in The StarJam Stage Show became unable to continue rehearsals, Ray happily filled the gap and became ‘The King’ the 2005 production. In 2007, Ray celebrated 45 years in show business.
A big Thank You to Patrick Bellett for his photography which is featured on this site.
