What is StarJam planning next?
The 2008 StarJam Show will be taking place at the TelstraClear Events Centre in Manukau on Saturday 22nd November. This year’s show promises to be bigger and more exciting than ever before. Tickets will be on sale in early September 2008.
Who can join StarJam?
StarJam is open to all young people with disabilities. There is no cost, and no special requirements to belong, only the desire and ability to have fun and to like being around others. There is an age restriction for enrolment in CoolJam Workshops, which are open to young people under the age of 25.
What is StarJam all about?
StarJam creates opportunities for young people with disabilities, through a series of spectacular events. The young people go centre-stage, “jamming” and performing with celebrities of their choice. These events cause a transformation to occur, both in the young people who begin to relate to their abilities instead of their disabilities, and for the audiences who achieve a new respect, admiration and sense of humility as they experience the giving of the young people.
StarJam is ultimately about changing society’s attitudes towards people with disability, and going about this with a philosophy of inspiration, fun and highly professional entertainment.
Celebrities
How do celebrities get involved?
Celebrities are usually approached by StarJam at the request of the young person who would like to interview or perform with them. Increasingly, celebrities from all fields - sport, the arts, entertainment - are approaching StarJam because they have heard about the success of StarJam, and they too want to get “jammed!”

“Watching young people be the best they can be is the ultimate inspiration. StarJam creates exactly that special environment where no only do they become the best they can be, but they inspire so many others.” Martin Crowe, legendary cricket star.
“Once again, StarJam gives these wonderful young people a fantastic opportunity to showcase their many and varied talents and to have their own star shine even brighter than usual.” Suzy Cato, Children’s TV presenter.
